In Clichy, regulars on Rue Martre will soon discover a completely different setting. Behind the windows of the former Casino, 2,200 m² are being transformed into a Grand Frais XXL. With a produce section, cheese counter, butcher shop, fish market, and grocery section, the chain is setting up its very first location in the Hauts-de-Seine department here. And after several months of construction, the grand opening is finally approaching.
A former supermarket poised for a complete makeover
For a long time, the location housed a Casio store. Soon, it will be hard to imagine the same setting. At 78 Rue Martre in Clichy, the 2,200 m² of the former supermarket will soon be home to the instantly recognizable world of Grand Frais. The chain, known for its large fruit and vegetable displays and its market-hall-inspired atmosphere, is set to open its doors just a few minutes from Paris.
This is no small neighborhood store. With such a large space, Grand Frais is clearly thinking big. The project hasn’t been without its challenges. The construction was notably disrupted by a fire in the fall of 2025. Since then, work has resumed, and the opening is gradually taking shape
2,200 m² designed like a large covered market
If you’re already familiar with Grand Frais, you know that the chain has a slightly different format. Rather than resembling a traditional supermarket, its stores are modeled after a large covered market, with distinct sections. You’ll move from the produce aisles to the cheese counter, then on to the butcher shop, the fish market, and finally to the grocery section featuring products from near and far.
In Clichy, this concept will take on a whole new dimension with 2,200 m² of retail space. That’s plenty of room for fresh produce, but it will also attract residents of northwestern Paris who, until now, had to travel farther to find the store.
A first in the Hauts-de-Seine department
That’s also what makes this opening special: there wasn’t a single Grand Frais store in the Hauts-de-Seine department yet. Until now, shoppers had to head to Argenteuil, Vélizy, or even Fresnes to shop at the chain. This time, Grand Frais is moving much closer to Paris.
And the choice of Clichy is no coincidence. Located just across the ring road, the future store will also appeal to Parisians who are already familiar with the brand but didn’t necessarily want to travel all the way across the Île-de-France region to fill their shopping carts there.
Just a few weeks left until the opening
After several months of construction, the date has now been set: the store is scheduled to open on Wednesday, November 25, 2026.
Hiring has already begun, and the various departments are getting ready behind the scenes. The former Casino on Rue du Martre is thus in its final weeks before giving way to an entirely new store.
With 2,200 m² dedicated to fresh produce, this first Grand Frais store in the Hauts-de-Seine department is sure to turn heads.
