Remember last August, when the skies treated us to the superb spectacle of the Perseids, an astronomical phenomenon visible to the naked eye during which thousands of shooting stars flashed before our eyes at a frenetic pace. Then, in November, we were treated to the Leonids. In case you missed this little marvel, or want more, you should know that the Geminids, a similar curiosity, are gracing the sky right now. A phenomenon to be observed until December 17, with a peak on the night of the 13th and 14th!
Geminids: a magnificent shower of shooting stars in the Parisian night sky
A hundred shooting stars per hour in the sky, or more than one per minute: this is the marvellous spectacle awaiting us in Paris just before Christmas… From December 3rd to December 17th, this celestial phenomenon takes place at the dawn of the long winter nights and can be seen from Parisian terraces, rooftops and gardens, with a peak scheduled for December 13th and 14th.
In addition to being (very) numerous, the stars that parade across the sky this December will also be very bright. We’re looking forward to a marvellous panorama in the dark of night! And to make sure you don’t miss a thing, we advise you to direct your gaze towards the constellation Gemini, where the shower of stars will be concentrated, hence the name Geminids.
All that’s left to do is climb out of your window and hope for clear skies…
