If you’re passing through the Marais this weekend, you must visit this huge, still little-known garden: the Jardin des Francs-Bourgeois-Rosiers, also known as the Jardin des Rosiers Joseph Migneret. A magnificent place, imbued with tranquility, hidden between two historic 17th-century hotels. A haven of peace that you will love to explore on sunny days!
A secret garden in the heart of the Marais
Closely linked to the history of the Hôtel de Coulanges, the Jardin des Rosiers Joseph Migneret is a very intimate place covering 2,135 m². This garden is unique in that it is divided into two very pleasant green spaces: the first part of the garden is dedicated to calm and relaxation, with a large semi-shaded lawn bordered by shrubs and flowers, as well as a children’s play area. To access it, you must go through Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, at number 35.

The second part has a completely different atmosphere! Dedicated to educational activities throughout the year, it is located just behind the Hôtel d’Albert and is known for its huge chestnut tree standing proudly in its center. Access is via Rue des Rosiers, at number 10.
But why is this garden divided into two?
It’s true that a garden in two parts is not very common… But the reason dates back several centuries! At the time, gardens belonged to the nobility and were private. They eventually merged, becoming the peaceful place we know today. Acquired by the city of Paris in 1972,it was completely renovated. Since 1978, the Maison de l’Europe de Paris has occupied the premises. A timeless place to discover without delay!
