The garden adjoining the Musée de Cluny in the 5ᵉ arrondissement reopens to the public. Renovated over several months, it welcomes visitors from July 10 in a brand-new 4,000 m² planted area and located in the heart of the Latin Quarter.
The Musée de Cluny gets its garden back
After the museum, the garden! Begun in 2011, the complete modernization of the Musée de Cluny, France’s only national museum dedicated to the Middle Ages, was scheduled for completion in 2022. Fully reopened in May 2022, the museum’ s next project was to be the adjoining garden. A contemporary element complementing the historic XVᵉ century building, the medieval-inspired garden had been laid out in 2000.

Closed for 9 months, from November 2024 to July 2025, it will reopen its next few days and offer the public (museum visitors, residents, tourists) an unprecedented space of greenery, completely redesigned and open to the neighborhood.
A green, medieval setting in the heart of Paris
Starting this Friday, the Musée de Cluny garden, at the junction of the boulevards Saint-Michel and Saint-Germain, will once again be open to the public! Visitors to the museum, as well as passers-by, will be able to enjoy some 4,000 m² of precious greenery in this busy, mineral area of the Latin Quarter. A picnic and relaxation area, a playground for children, this garden is destined to be enjoyed by all Parisians and visitors alike!

Many of the garden’s features are also linked to the city’s medieval heritage, such as planting squares inspired by ancient medieval gardens, the Hôtel de Cluny and the remains of the old thermal baths. This attention to detail extends to the presence of strawberry plants, columbines and other plant species featured on the museum’s centerpiece, the Lady and the Unicorn tapestry!

Finally, to finalize the complete renovation of the site, the historic garden of the abbots of Cluny and the fencing will also be renovated.
