An exceptional library, open to the public free of charge for one weekend
Every year, the European Heritage Days are one of the country’s most popular and eagerly anticipated cultural events. For one weekend, from September 19 to 20, the general public will have access to cultural sites and collections that are usually closed or difficult to visit.
Among them, the INHA will once again be featured this year, along with its superb Labrouste reading room, surrounded by thousands of books. One of Paris’s architectural gems, classified as a historic monument, it houses documentary and iconographic collections that serve as essential references for art history research. It is also the world’s largest art history library ! Usually reserved for students, researchers, and teachers, you’ll once again be able to admire it from every angle—free of charge—this year thanks to guided tours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
But that’s not all—the National Institute of Art History has put together a rich and eclectic program on the theme “Heritage in Peril” to help you better understand its history and missions. For example, you can attend lectures and screenings, participate in linocut or Arabic calligraphy workshops… and all of this for free. Check out the full program here.
