You may look forward to it eagerly every year as spring approaches. The Hanami at Parc de Sceaux is a magnificent event open to everyone. In its vast park lined with cherry blossoms, the grounds are transformed into a true poetic masterpiece, attracting thousands of visitors every year. But here’s the thing: this year, things will be quite different… Damaged by a pest, the trees will be protected. To access the park, you’ll need to reserve a time slot…
A hanami like no other this year
This year, Parc de Sceaux will implement strict measures to protect its trees. Indeed, its magnificent cherry trees are victims of a pathogenic fungus and are also severely weakened by the constant trampling of visitors each year. While this fungus poses no danger to humans, it can threaten the trees’ health if left unchecked. To protect access to the trees during the blooming season, you must reserve your visit through the château’s official website.Picnics under the cherry trees will be available by reservation at no cost for the day, limited to 3,500 people per day. The rest of the park will also be open for picnicking on the grass.

Please note: RER B will be undergoing construction between Denfert-Rochereau, La Croix-de-Berny, and Robinson in both directions on April 4, 5, 6, 18, and 19. To reach the park and the château, replacement buses will be running between the Porte d’Orléans and Bourg-la-Reine stations. Finally, to enjoy the cherry blossoms in peace, the estate recommends booking on weekdays and, if possible, very early in the morning. For now, the first booking slots are full. New slots will open starting April 4 and will be added gradually, every day, from April 4 to April 19 on the estate’s official website. So stay tuned!
