No, there will be no fireworks on July 14 in Paris
It is perhaps one of the most eagerly awaited events for Parisians: the July 14 fireworks display. A magical and often very impressive pyrotechnic show, particularly the one launched from the Eiffel Tower, which undeniably leaves a lasting impression. But this year, things will be very different… Ten years ago, on July 14, 2016, a horrific attack claimed the lives of 86 people on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. What was supposed to be a festive evening turned into a national tragedy.
Out of respect for the victims and the bereaved families, the day and evening of July 14 will be marked by a spirit of remembrance and solidarity. The military parade on the Champs-Élysées will, however, go ahead on the morning of July 14.
A show brought forward, but just as spectacular as ever
While the evening of July 14 will be subdued, July 13, on the other hand, will be decked out in thousands of colors. Indeed , the fireworks will be set off from the Eiffel Tower starting at 11 p.m. The display is expected to last 35 minutes and will be accompanied by a brand-new musical and visual show. And of course, as every year, it will be broadcast live on TV!
While the theme has not yet been revealed, we know that a tribute to the 400th anniversary of the French Navy, as well as a nod to the friendship between Rome and Paris, are expected to take center stage.
