The Jardin d’Acclimatation goes into winter mode with Japon en Lumières. After a colorful Día de Muertos, the park sets sail for the Japanese archipelago: with 2,000 extraordinary lanterns, the event invites young and old to embark on an immersive journey in the purest Japanese tradition. Ancestral traditions, pop culture and majestic nature are highlighted in the unique setting of the Jardin d’Acclimatation. And that’s not all! A ride on the 20-metre-high Ferris Wheel ? A tasting of Franco-Japanese specialities? This multi-sensory event awaits you from December 10, 2025, and it’s one to mark in your diary!
Japan in Lights at the Jardin d’Acclimatation: a one-way trip to the Land of the Rising Sun
This luminous journey is structured around three major chapters , weaving a luminous thread between history, modernity and nature. The Empire of Traditions gives pride of place to the thousand-year-old symbols of Japan: majestic torii, Shintō temples, samurai and sumo wrestling, and the rustle of silk parasols. The stage is set.
Leap forward in time and space: L’Odyssée Pop-moderne takes us to the sidewalks of Tokyo, to the heart of the famous Shibuya intersection, all neon lights, manga heroes, kawaii details, arcade games …
Finally, Le Jardin des Songes invites you to daydream: in a contemplative setting, you’ll discover sakuras in bloom, the aquatic ballet of koi carp, macaques bathing in hot springs, Mount Fuji… So, are you ready to try this exotic outing just a stone’s throw from home?
What are we looking forward to?
Firstly, and this is a major argument, it’s accessible to all. Between the lighting installations, the famous Ferris Wheel, sumo match broadcasts on giant screens, arcade games and gourmet stands where you can sample Japanese specialities , as well as the comfort foods typical of winter chalets, there’s something for everyone.
It’s photogenic: between the electrifying night-time atmosphere and the thousand-and-one-colored lanterns, it’s the ideal setting to feed your Instagram feed with pretty photos as if you’d been on a trip to Japan. A selfie with a samurai, a few steps in a real Japanese garden, a meeting with the little pandas… Everyone will find an opportunity to take some pretty pictures!
It’s cultural and fun at the same time: you open up to the world in wonder, you discover while having fun, you travel without leaving, and you change worlds in just a few steps. Above all, it’s a nighttime stroll off the beaten track, and a perfect complement to the traditional holiday illuminations.
A few tips to make the most of it
- Choose the time that suits you best, from 6pm to 9pm, to fully appreciate the luminous decor!
- Don’t arrive too late either, to enjoy the course AND the food court.
- Dress warmly. Cold winter evenings are part of the magic of the setting. A good jacket, scarf and gloves will make for a warm and unique evening.
