On May 31 at 9pm, the whole of Paris will be beating in unison for its team. The latter will be in the Champions League final against Inter Milan. A match that promises to be epic. And to celebrate in style, the city of Paris will be setting up several fan zones where you can watch the final for free… and on big screens. While we don’t yet know all the venues, some fans are hoping for a broadcast at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. But what if it were possible? We tell you all about it!
Fan zones and giant screens: a Champions League final to remember
After years of dreaming about it, PSG fans will finally be able to attend the Champions League final, where their club will face Inter Milan on May 31.
Paris City Hall had promised that, should Luis Enrique’s men qualify for the final, fans would be able to watch it on giant screens. For the time being, Paris City Hall has yet to finalize the venue with the Paris Prefecture, but we already know that you’ll be able to watch this meeting at the pinnacle of European soccer for free in five locations.
Indeed, the town hall of the 17ᵉ arrondissement has confirmed that a fan zone with a giant screen will indeed be set up, though without specifying its location. Close to the Champs-Elysées, this is a favored arrondissement for fans to let their joy explode after matches on the world’s most beautiful avenue.
We also know that the Aulnay-sous-bois town council is preparing two fan zones: one located in the Parking Dumont and the other in the Place du Marché de la Rose des Vents.
Finally, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, considered by many to be the cradle of Parisian soccer, has also announced in a press release that the final will indeed be broadcast on a giant screen. This will take place at the Stade Georges-Lefèvre, where the club has trained for over 50 years. A free, festive evening is planned, with a food-truck village and entertainment for all! Enough to put you at ease before the big game!
Last but not least, to the delight of fans, the final will be broadcast at the Parc des Princes in front of 38,000 spectators!
A final at the foot of the Eiffel Tower? A far from impossible option!
As we all know, relations between the city of Paris and the club have not been at their best for several years. In 2020, the city council was unable to organize a fan zone for the Champions League final because of the global pandemic… This year, they’re looking to make up for it:
“We’ll be doing something for the final, several options are possible, we need to work with the police prefecture,” says a source at City Hall.
On social networks, fans are going wild. Some are talking about a possible installation at the foot of the Eiffel Tower… An impressive setup, but far from impossible for Paris City Hall. Remember, in 2018 , four giant screens were installed to celebrate the soccer World Cup. A possible installation for the Champions League final? We’ll let you wait a few days to find out…
