Every spring, the great Parisian houses unveil their Easter chocolate creations. At the Hôtel de Crillon, pastry chef Matthieu Carlin has chosen to look right in front of the palace for inspiration this year. The 2026 Easter egg pays tribute to one of the square’s most recognizable features: its famous street lamps.
Le Crillon creates a gourmet and unusual Easter egg
The creation echoes the lines of these street lamps, designed in the 19th century by architect Jacques-Ignace Hittorff, which are part of the iconic decor of the Place de la Concorde. The chef reinterprets them in the form of a veritable chocolate sculpture, whose crown features the Hôtel de Crillon logo and the symbol of the City of Paris.

Beyond the incredible attention to detail that went into creating the egg, the focus is obviously also on taste! The egg combines two types of chocolate: one side is made of 42% grand cru milk chocolate, which is rounder and more indulgent, and the other side is made of 66% dark chocolate, which is more intense. Inside, there is a delicious almond and hazelnut praline, made with gavotte pieces, all of which makes for an ultra-tasty and indulgent result.
As is often the case with this type of luxury creation, the egg is available in a limited edition. It is priced at €85, with pre-orders open since March 1, 2026. Pick-ups are scheduled from March 27 to April 19, 2026, at the Butterfly Pâtisserie, the Hôtel de Crillon’s boutique.
With this chocolate lamp, Matthieu Carlin has created a design that directly echoes the Parisian decor surrounding the palace. It is a piece that is both delicious and highly visual, designed as a nod to the heritage of the Place de la Concorde.
