After more than a century of industrial activity, Île Seguin is poised to turn a new page. On October 17, 2026, “Le Large,” a new 5,000-square-meter contemporary art center located at Pointe des Arts in Boulogne-Billancourt, will open its doors to the public. Designed by the firm RCR Arquitectes (2017 Pritzker Prize winner) in collaboration with the agency CALQ, the building is conceived to make the physical encounter with the artwork the heart of the experience.

Led by Paula Aisemberg, Le Large defines itself as a hybrid model: 2,500 square meters of exhibition space, but also a place for production and outreach that is open to the city. Its name plays on the site’s dual nature—surrounded by the Seine—and on a commitment to accessibility: reaching the widest possible audience, both literally and figuratively.
“Moteur Imaginaire”: Industry and Art Face to Face
For its inaugural exhibition, Le Large has entrusted the curatorial program to Cecilia Alemani, an internationally renowned curator. Titled “Moteur Imaginaire: From Masterpieces of the Renault Collection to Contemporary Artists,” the exhibition explores the legacy of the Renault factory site and examines the relationship between humans and machines, with the automobile as its central theme.
In partnership with the Renault Fund for Art and Culture, the exhibition brings together historic works from the Renault collection—including pieces by Vasarely, Dubuffet, Tinguely, and Doisneau—with contemporary creations. Le Large has commissioned 17 new works from artists such as Théo Mercier, Sara Sadik, Clément Cogitore, Bertrand Lavier, Mohamed El Khatib, Bertille Bak, and Giulia Andreani.

The exhibition is organized into five chapters: “Factory of My Thoughts,” “Driving Forces,” “Social Bodies,” “Objects of Desire,” and “The Human Machine,” and will remain open through March 7, 2027.
Architecturally, the layout plays on contrasts in volume: the compactness of the coffee shop contrasts with the expansiveness of the 1,000-square-meter main hall , while light filtered through aluminum mashrabiya screens envelops the entire space.
Le Large is part of a larger urban project, the Pointe des Arts: 53,000 square meters combining the art center, an eight-screen Pathé movie theater, a 230-room hotel, 20,000 square meters of office space, and retail stores, developed by Emerige, Ardian Real Estate, and AOG.
Access: Metro lines 9 and 15, T2 tram (Brimborion), bus 42 (Île Seguin). More information on Le Large’s official website.
