On July 3, this new event takes over the Consulat Voltaire to offer Parisian movie lovers and music fans an evening designed just for them. Film screenings on one side, DJ sets on the other, all under one roof: that’s the whole concept behind La Fête au Cinéma.
The idea isn’t new: Paris has already seen movie theaters transform into clubs for a single night, such as the vinyl DJ sets at the Louxor cinema or the Crescendo party at the UGC Bercy, but here it takes on a special dimension, as the venue is known for its hybrid approach to event planning.
Club 54: a blend of cinema and club
In practice, Club 54 operates on a dual-stage concept. On one side, a space dedicated to screenings: moving images, selected clips, short films—the idea being to offer a selection that aligns with the Consulat Voltaire’s usual cultural programming, ranging from auteur videos to visual experiments. On the other, a dance floor where the turntables take over.
Le Consulat Voltaire: a former power plant turned into a cultural hub in the 11th arrondissement
Built in 1908 by architect Paul Friesé, the building at 14 Avenue Parmentier long supplied the neighborhood’s power grid before becoming, in 2017, one of the 11th arrondissement’s most unique cultural venues. Spanning 3,000 m², the Consulat Voltaire hosts a continuous lineup of film screenings, live concerts, performances, exhibitions, and workshops.
