Those who grew up in the 80s and 90s agree: it was better before… And it’s for all these nostalgics that Ciné Darons was born in Paris. We tell you all about this phenomenon, which is sure to delight film buffs and cult movie fans alike!
Cinema screenings “as they used to be”, with cult films
That’s it, Millenials (also known as Generation Y) have become darlings. Doesn’t make us any younger, does it? And self-respecting darlings don’t give a damn about mainstream films: what they do like are cult favorites. Do you too dream of seeing the great classics of the 7th Art and the Blockbusters of the 80s and 90s again at the cinema? Then maybe you should join the Ciné Darons club… In the 13th arrondissement of Paris, this cinema only screens cult films, to be rediscovered in a darkened room. E.T (home phone), Jurassic Park, Les Goonies, SOS Fantômes, Retour vers le Futur… Ciné Darons’ special screenings are sure to put a smile on your face. And the nostalgia doesn’t stop there. Here, cinema sessions are really played out as they used to be, with good old-fashioned advertising, candies to nibble on in the dark, quizzes, gifts and even a tombola!
An unusual cinema for nostalgic darlings (and their offspring)
But whose crazy idea was it – not to invent the school – but to launch the Ciné Darons concept? Behind this regressive story are two fathers. Two darlings, fans of the cult sagas that lulled our childhoods, such as Indiana Jones, Gremlins and the trilogy starring Doc and Marty McFly (among other cinematic behemoths). At a time when the stream on the couch is replacing the magic of watching movies on the big screen in good old red armchairs, cult heroes are getting their remontada thanks to this Parisian ciné-club. A treat for nostalgic fans, and a great way to educate the younger generation about cinema.
Irreducible cinephiles, come to Ecscurial to brush up on your classics: Edouard aux Mains d’Argent, The Adams Family and the first version of Batman. In short, anthology films! We don’t know about you, but it really made us want to make a painting.
