This year, we won’t be celebrating spring in the same way, as the Jardin des Plantes is turning 400! And for the occasion, it’s getting a makeover! A new floral display will completely transform the grounds and leave you breathless.
400 years of the Jardin des Plantes, and flowers as far as the eye can see
What would spring be without its multicolored flowers ? Its fragrances? The chance to admire cherry blossoms, but also to stroll through gardens… It is in this spirit that we invite you to visit the Jardin des Plantes. A fabulous place, celebrating its 400th anniversary this year.

Right now, you can admire nearly 50,000 plants and flowers, such as tulips, anemones, and poppies, which form a magnificent ribbon of multicolored blooms. A tribute to both nature and art, recreating the colors of the Museum’s naturalist plates—known as Vélins—across four areas along the planting beds. A delightful perspective that lets you see the garden’s legendary paths in a whole new light.

Then, from mid-May through mid-June, the garden will transform once again with a second wave of plantings. This time, edible and medicinal plants used for centuries will take center stage, featuring approximately 25,000 annuals and perennials. Through this entirely new display, you’ll come to understand the close bond between humans and nature.
Right now is also the perfect time to admire the Japanese Shirotae cherry tree, a remarkable centuries-old tree currently in full white bloom.
