For the 4ᵉ edition of its national competition, the Confédération Nationale de la Boulangerie et Boulangerie-Pâtisserie Française has just elected France’s best almond galette. While first place went to Gilles Lecointre in the Loire, there was one galette from Ile-de-France that reached 3ᵉ place. Go to Au Fournil d’Autrefois, in the 91, to taste the 3ᵉ best galette des rois in France, which even overshadows the recipes of Michelin-starred chefs!
One of France’s best galettes des rois is just outside Paris.

For this competition, each candidate had 6 hours spread over two days to make two almond galettes. This version of the galette des rois contains no custard, but is no less delicious. Penalties were imposed for using non-conforming products or exceeding the time limit.
The galette was scrutinized from every angle: gilding, originality of decoration, taste, puff pastry, quality of filling… nothing was left to chance! For this 4ᵉ edition, three bakeries stood out:
1st – La boulangerie Lecointre – Centre-Val de Loire
2nd – La boulangerie pâtisserie Hubert – Grand Est
3rd – Au Fournil d’Autrefois – Ile-de-France
Located in Étampes, the only Ile-de-France bakery in the ranking did not disappoint. With its golden, tasty galette, it’s sure to make more than one person go wild! With this ranking, this traditional galette becomes the best almond galette in Île-de-France. A great achievement for the whole team of enthusiasts!
