In recent years, the capital has established itself as one of Europe’s most exciting playgrounds for mixology enthusiasts. And the very first “Europe’s 50 Best Bars” ranking, unveiled in Amsterdam, has just confirmed this with a strong showing from Paris.
Three Parisian cocktail bars honored
Three Parisian spots made the top 20: Bar Nouveau, ranked 5th; The Cambridge Public House, 7th; and Danico, 19th. Three distinct atmospheres, three very different approaches to mixology, but the same conclusion: Paris no longer has anything to be ashamed of when compared to London, Barcelona, or Athens. Better yet, the city has a total of five barson this new list, including Harry’s Bar at No. 27 and De Vie at No. 34.
The highest-ranked of the Parisian bars, Bar Nouveau, plays the elegance card. In this Art Nouveau-inspired setting , the menu is short, and every drink has been thought out down to the smallest detail. A few spots down the list, The Cambridge Public House deliberately breaks the mold. Behind its facade as a British pub nestled in the Marais, the venue hides one of the capital’s most creative bars. Danico rounds out this trio with yet another distinct personality. Tucked away behind the Daroco restaurant in the former Galerie Vivienne, Nico de Soto’s bar has built its reputation on travel-inspired cocktails.
Otherwise, the ranking is dominated by Athens, which places Line in first place and The Bar in Front of the Bar in second. Barcelona rounds out the podium with Sips, already well known to cocktail enthusiasts.
And while Paris still lags far behind London in the number of ranked venues, it makes a strong showing where it counts most: at the top of the list. Three bars in the European top 20, five in the overall ranking, and a cocktail scene that has never seemed so vibrant!
