Around sixty designers, numerous conferences and twenty workshops focusing on the culture of the land of the rising sun: this is the tempting program for Idées Japon 2025, a genuine Japanese Christmas market in the heart of the capital. It’s a free three-day event at the Bastille Design Center from November 21 to 23.
A Japanese Christmas market with free admission
As the winter season gets underway, the capital’s Christmas markets are gradually making a comeback. And among all the events to look out for, Idées Japon is a must for November! With free admission, visitors can stroll through the different levels of the Bastille Design Center to unearth the rare pearl and, why not, get their hands on gifts to slip under the tree a month later.
In concrete terms, the 670 square meter space will serve as a playground for the 60 or so exhibitors gathered for the occasion. The basement will feature everything to do with tableware and food. You’ll be able to indulge in tea and pastries, as well as authentic sake and ceramics. On the first floor, decoration, fashion and stationery will be in the spotlight, while art and crafts will be on display upstairs.
But there’s more to this wonderful event than shopping! Throughout the weekend, workshops of all kinds will punctuate our adventures. From the art of engraving (tenkoku) to the art of paper folding (origami) and the technique of gold joining (kintsugi), we’ll be showcasing many facets of Japanese craft culture. Finally, the weekend will be punctuated by a dozen conferences led by Japanese specialists. An opportunity to learn a little more about this fascinating country.
