Calling all Trainers: one of the biggest Pokémon events of the year is coming up. On the weekend of November 14 and 15, the Wild Area event is coming to Pokémon GO. On the agenda: the first-ever appearance of Pokémon like Gigamax Duralugon, alongside the legendary Dynamax Dialga and Dynamax Palkia, and many more!
Ten years ago, the Pokémon GO phenomenon had us all heading outside, smartphones in hand. Want to relive that collective excitement? You’re in luck: the game is back this month. Whether you’re feeling nostalgic or looking for a unique outing idea, the event is free to join, no matter where you are. It’s a great excuse to get some fresh air and rediscover your neighborhood from a new perspective!

taking your first steps on this adventure? Now is the perfect time to get started. Completely free, Pokémon GO turns your daily commutes into a real-life playground. As you walk around, the parks, landmarks, and murals in your neighborhood become PokéStops: spin their Photo Disc to stock up on Poké Balls, berries, and potions. It’s easy to get started, and the Wild Area weekend takes things even further with increased spawns and bonuses all over the map. Download the game, team up with a friend through team play, and set out to explore the city together.
What is the Pokémon GO Wild Area event?
It’s a major global event taking place right within the game for one weekend, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year, the Steel and Dragon types take center stage through two alternating themed slots: “Tough as Steel” and “Fearless as a Dragon.” Keep your screen handy to encounter classics like Charmander and Onix, or highly sought-after Pokémon like Lucario and Minidraco. These Pokémon will appear as you move through the real world—the perfect excuse to get some fresh air and rediscover the city in a whole new light.

For seasoned Trainers
It’s shaping up to be an intense weekend! Gigamax Duralugon is making its debut in 6-star Max Battles: the luckiest players might even get the chance to encounter its Shiny form. Two other Pokémon are making their first appearance in Pokémon GO: challenge Dynamax Dialga on Saturday and Dynamax Palkia on Sunday in Max Battles. Meanwhile, Mackogneur will be appearing in 3-star raids, sporting a brand-new jacket. Your victories in raids and Max Battles will also allow you to unlock a Special Background, immortalizing the exact time and location of your achievements.
Keep your eyes peeled: XXL Pokémon will be out and about—often formidable, they’ll give you a run for your money. Stock up on GO Safari Balls at PokéStops to catch them, but be sure to use them all, as they’ll disappear at the end of the weekend. Finally, all players will enjoy three free Raid Passes per day and team play sessions extended to 8 hours. Perfect for playing with friends!
Exclusive perks for ticket holders
To take it to the next level, the Global Pass unlocks an exclusive Special Research: choose between the Steel or Dragon types and use your GO Safari Balls (available during this event) to catch XXL or rare Pokémon. Try to capture Gigamax Duralugon (with its Special Background) or even Latias and Latios by luring them with Incense.
The ticket will also unlock a nice bonus pack: an increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon, up to 6 free Raid Passes per day, double Candy for every catch, and double Incense duration.
