Two hundred years ago , photography was born. It’ s an art form that still moves and deeply affects us today. Now through January 18, 2027, the Bourse de Commerce is showcasing more than 700 photographs, as well as an immersive artwork by Barbara Kruger, in her exhibition “Remember Me…” Here’s everything you need to know.
“Remember Me”: A Moving Photo Exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce
Photography is the art of capturing the moment to make it eternal. In her monumental installation, titled *The History of Tears*, set up in the museum’s Rotunda, Barbara Kruger challenges us to reflect on our relationship with images and memory. The words of George Orwell and Aimé Césaire are displayed across the walls and curves of this circular space, inviting us to reflect on our emotions and our relationship with time. A socially engaged artist, shereminds us that images are never neutral: they tell stories, raise questions, and stir our emotions.
This monumental installation inevitably interacts with the rest of the exhibition. In the Irving Penn Room, you’ll discover nearly 450 of the photographer’s works from the Pinault Collection, presented in a unique arrangement: portraits, fashion shots, nudes, still lifes, and flowers are intermingled in no particular chronological order. Upstairs, Gallery 3 features about fifty images from Raymond Depardon’s “La France” series: shops, houses, roads, and subprefectures… A somewhat old-fashioned France that will nonetheless resonate with you.
In total, no fewer than 700 photographs taken by more than 80 artists—including masterpieces—will be unveiled before your eyes. Photographs by Gustave Le Gray, Eugène Atget, Man Ray, Annie Leibovitz, and so many others, including deeply moving portraits that have left their mark on history. A magnificent exhibition on view through January 18, 2027.
