Can you feel it too? It’s almost time for another enchanting stroll! If the arrival of spring means the return of mild temperatures and the first glimmers of sunshine, it’s also synonymous with the flowering of Parisian vegetation. And blooming means exceptional panoramas in the capital, thanks in particular to the cherry trees and all the green fauna in the four corners of the city. We know of several spots in Paris where nature is elegantly reclaiming its rights. Follow us to Square Gabriel Pierné, one of the most charming secret spots in Paris once spring arrives.
Square Gabriel Pierné, a quiet spot in the heart of Paris
In the literary and social tradition of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, Square Gabriel Pierné perfectly mirrors its surroundings. Romantic and picturesque, it’s also packed with little curiosities that are sure to please. Between the Institut de France, art galleries and booksellers, you’ll find plenty of shade on its open-book benches. We’re not in Saint-Germain for nothing, so grab a book and devour it in royal calm.
A privileged and little-known setting. Yes, you could pass by this unspoilt haven of peace without even noticing it. With a surface area of just 650 square metres, Gabriel Pierné Square is still a well-kept secret among German-Pratins! In the heart of this intimate garden, three curiosities catch the eye. On one side, the Carmes fountain and on the other, the small bronze statue Carolina, sculpted by Marcello Tommasi, sheltered by a majestic specimen of catalpa (classified as a remarkable tree) over 15 metres tall. The centerpiece of an abundant flora including cherry trees, rhododendrons and magnolias.
It’s one of the many places in and around the capital to take on a special cachet as the fine weather approaches. Once spring arrives, the Gabriel Pierné square glows with blossoming trees and is then decked out in a beautiful pink coat. It’s a unique sight that adds to the magic of Paris, and a must-see if you’re visiting Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
