If you’d visit the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Taj-Mahal in India or the Colosseum in Rome, here’s the equivalent with each city’s culinary heritage. Taste Atlas has just unveiled its list of 150 legendary restaurants around the world, each accompanied by the dish that made it famous.
“These are not just places to have a meal, but destinations in their own right, comparable to the world’s most famous museums, galleries and monuments. Each of them has stood the test of time, eschewing the trappings of fashion in favor of traditional, high-quality cuisine,” reads the preamble to this selection.
Figlmüller ‘s wiener schnitzel in Vienna, Katz’s pastrami sandwich in New York or Sorbillo ‘s Margherita in Naples: the world’s most emblematic dishes are obviously represented in this extensive list. So, according to Taste Atlas, which are the most legendary restaurants in Paris? Proudly representing the capital, it’s Bouillon Chartier that was first chosen in 19th position overall in the ranking, with its iconic duck confit served since 1896.
