On April 13, many runners will be treading the cobblestones of the capital for the Paris Marathon! A not-to-be-missed event for all sports enthusiasts, and one that continues to grow in popularity. Over 50,000 runners come together every year to progress, excel and burn calories in the City of Light. Yes, but there’s a catch… the price of the marathon! According to RMC, the price has risen by 45 euros in three years, reaching 170 euros at the last minute! So why this price? Is it possible to find cheaper tickets for the Paris Marathon? We tell you all about it!
Paris Marathon prices: increasingly expensive tickets
It’s one of the most prestigious races in France. Every year, the Paris Marathon is a major sporting event that welcomes pro, semi-pro and amateur runners from all over the world. While the quality of the welcome, the course and the refreshment points seems to have improved over the years , the price has risen considerably.

According to RMC, in three years, the latter has risen by 45 euros, to 140 euros in first! And you have to pay even more if you’re one of the latecomers: 170 euros. So why such a high price?
A marathon that attracts more and more people
It’s the principle of supply and demand! The more demand there is for an event, the more attractive it becomes and, what’s more, the more its price is likely to rise. This is exactly what happens with the Paris Marathon, which gains in popularity year after year.

It has to be said that the race passes through some of the most beautiful places in Paris:the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower… It’s a real sightseeing tour, and one that comes with a hefty price tag.
Increased security… at a cost
More people means more security! To ensure that everyone has a peaceful marathon, a security perimeter has been set up as for every edition. Police and medical personnel will be on hand to ensure the smooth running of the race.
Of course, this represents a cost that has to be amortized in the price of the bib… The same goes for the refreshments and medals , which are more numerous and of better quality than before.
