Among our favorite walks, those that go beyond Paris and celebrate France have a special place in our hearts. Between Moret-sur-Loing, Auvers-sur-Oise and Giverny, there are a myriad of little treasures in the Paris region. From an architectural, historical or artistic point of view, they all represent a great idea for a stroll off the beaten track. And today, we’re heading for the Oise to discover one of its most beautiful jewels, Gerberoy!
Gerberoy, the picturesque charm of a medieval village
Gerberoy, a picturesque little village in northern France, hides an architectural treasure trove of rare elegance. The cobbled streets and half-timbered houses dating back to the Middle Ages rival each other in charm, while the flower gardens and pedestrian streets make it an idyllic place to stroll. The village’s narrow, winding streets, lined with ashlar and half-timbered houses, reveal a panorama of rich history. Red-tiled roofs and green shutters add a splash of color to the buildings, enhancing their authentic character.
But Gerberoy ‘s interest also lies in its gardens, also a real feast for the eyes. The pedestrianized streets of the village, closed to cars, also allow you to stroll at your leisure, discover the many cafés and restaurants where you can sample local dishes and products, or stroll through the craft market where you can buy pottery, jewelry, fabrics and wooden objects.
All in all, Gerberoy is a great place to stroll, breathe in the fresh air and discover the hidden treasures of an incredibly elegant medieval village. It’s an architectural gem, a living testimony to history and a haven of peace for lovers of nature and authenticity.
