Are youa lover of flowers and unspoiled places? Head to the Grand Mosque of Paris! A veritable labyrinth of greenery that offers a complete change of scenery. Centered around five large pools, this magical place reveals its full splendor in April…
The garden of the Grand Mosque of Paris: an oasis in the heart of Paris
Inaugurated in 1926 in the Latin Quarter, the Grand Mosque of Paris is a breathtaking building. Erected in tribute to the 70,000 Muslims who died for France during World War I, it is one of the largest mosques in the country. A place of worship for many believers, it is nevertheless open to the public almost year-round. This architectural gem features a stunning 3,500-square-meter garden inspired by Andalusian design, well worth a visit. Nothing was left to chance in its design, as it is structured around five pools, representing the five pillars of Islam.

Between the gentle lapping of the water, its handcrafted mosaics in the blue of Fez, and its lush vegetation, you’ll feel completely cut off from the world. A place conducive to meditation, reflection, and tranquility, it transforms into a veritable living painting during the warmer months. In the spring, and particularly from April to May, cascades of mauve wisteria bloom with elegance and delicacy on the facades of the century-old building. A dazzling spectacle, but a fleeting one, as the wisteria’s bloom lasts less than a month…

April is therefore the ideal time to discover this marvelous, perfectly preserved site. And if you’re still craving nature, know that the garden is home to palm trees, fig trees, and dozens of varieties of roses. The roses typically bloom from May through the summer, filling the entire courtyard with their delicate fragrance.
