A free medieval festival just outside Paris
It’s one of the oldest fairs in France… The onion fair, celebrated in Mantes-la-Jolie, has been bringing together curious onlookers and passing gourmands for several centuries. For its 575ᵉ edition, the town is transformed for a day into a charming medieval village. Throughout the day on November 22, you’ll discover a transformed town center where passionate artisans and entertainment await you. Period costumes, old-fashioned know-how, ancient music… From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., this day promises total immersion in the medieval world.

Stroll through the town’s charming craft market, where market gardeners and bakers await you, their stalls filled with fresh produce. You’ll also have the opportunity to discover ancient trades for younger visitors, such as tanners, glassmakers and weavers, who will be delighted to talk to you about their art and sell their creations on site.
Wonderful entertainment all day long, for free!

Throughout the day, young and old alike will be treated to a variety of free activities, including street performances, a show of birds of prey flying over the city, musical and dance strolls in costume, medieval battles, fire shows… Let’s face it, you’re in for a real treat!
