Who would have thought that such a jewel lay hidden in the sublime forest of Fontainebleau? The “Sables du Cul du Chien” is an unusual place, located in the middle of the pine forest. This stretch of soft sand as far as the eye can see, less than an hour from Paris, will charm you with its peaceful, enchanting allure.
Unusual: a fine sandy beach just 45 minutes from Paris

You may know Fontainebleau for its castle, hiking trails and forest, but perhaps less for its beach… Hidden between the pines and birches of the majestic Fontainebleau forest, this sandy beach stretches for several kilometers. You won’t find a drop of water here! In fact, the ocean disappeared 30 million years ago, making way for quartz, which was then transformed into the fine sand we see today. In fact, this sand is said to be among the finest in the world!

Gone are the lapping waves! Instead, bask in the shade of the trees on the golden sands. A magnificent natural spot, perfect for a family picnic or a stroll, weather permitting. Nature lovers will love getting lost in the immensity of this beach. There are a few “curiosities” to be discovered, such as the amusingly shaped rocks. The best-known, in the shape of a bilboquet, is a delight for children and climbers alike.
An ideal getaway in fine weather!
