Until July 1, 2024, the Center Pompidou hosts an unprecedented retrospective – the last of which took place in 1955 – dedicated to Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957), pioneer of contemporary sculpture. Through more than 120 sculptures and an identical reconstruction of part of the artist’s studio, the centerpiece of the exhibition, visitors have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Brancusi‘s raw and delicate work.
Brancusi, art is just beginning
Featuring sculptures, photographs, drawings and films ,the retrospective offers an opportunity to explore the full range of techniques used by this prolific artist, considered the inventor of modern sculpture. The Exhibition provides an opportunity to discover the themes that punctuate his career, as well as his most iconic works.
The Sleeping Muse, Le Baiser (a version intended to differ from Rodin’s, with whom the artist learned), The Wisdom of the Earth, The Prayer, Leda the controversial Princess X or the Endless Column. His singular work in wood, plaster and bronze, and his absolutely personal technique of direct carving of stone form a universal universal language.
A unique creative space
The artist’sstudio, a veritable jewel in thecollection of the Musée national d’art moderne, forms the matrix of this project. As part of the exhibition it has been faithfully reconstructed to reproduce its luminous ambience and showcase its sculptures, creating a dialogue between the works and the environment designed to transcend them.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to discover this great 20th-century artist in a whole new light!
