With the Paris Olympic Games only a few months away, sports fever is making itself felt in every corner of the capital. With the official poster announcements about the opening ceremony or the hijacking of names of metro stations you can feel the big sporting event getting closer and closer! Today, it’s in front of a Parisian institution that sport is once again in the spotlight, as colorful, sporty Venuses de Milo have just taken their place on the forecourt.
Colorful statues in front of the National Assembly
If you’re passing through the heart of Paris, you’ll no doubt have noticed the appearance of 6 colorful characters in front of the Palais Bourbon. These 6 “Olympic-shaped” statues are in fact part of the “Beauty and Gesture” exhibition, recently inaugurated by Laurent Perbos, the artist behind these creations, and Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly.

So, 6 colorful sculptures took their place in front of the Palais Bourbon, each proudly standing in front of one of the building’s columns. Purple, yellow, blue, orange, green and red, these 6 hijacked Venuses de Milo celebrate a universal sport. Tennis, surfing, basketball, para-archery, boxing and javelin are just some of the sports represented.
Installed here since the beginning of April, these pretty sculptures will remain here for the entire duration of the Games, and will also be part of the olympic flame route !
