The Cité du Cinéma, located in the former power station, has temporarily gone into “backstage” mode for part of its activities. It’s important to clarify that the film studios (Les Studios de Cinéma) continue to operate as normal, and are still hosting productions. Only public access and events have been suspended to allow for the transition and reinvention of the site. This period of closure, though necessary, creates a palpable expectation for lovers of culture and great events.
The official and complete reopening is scheduled for April 2026, but the wait is broken by a final exception: the Candlelight concerts.

Why is the Cité du Cinéma closing its doors?
The current closure marks a radical and strategic transformation. The site, which was once a thermal power plant and then a site mainly reserved for the film industry (the Luc Besson era), was deemed too closed to the public. As a result, the Cité was closed for a major refurbishment to open it completely to the public.
The new operator, Seine & Watts, aims to make the Cité a major destination in Greater Paris, capable of attracting 300,000 visitors a year. To achieve this, the project calls for the development of themedexhibition spaces for the general public, the creation of a vast food court with a terrace overlooking the Seine, and the expansion of the existing 620 m² cinema. This temporary silence paves the way for the rebirth of the site, which will be open to businesses and the general public from April 2026.
The finale: The FINAL CUT event
The adrenalin of celebration has had the last word! On September 13, 2025, the Cité du Cinéma was transformed into a gigantic dancefloor for the FINAL CUT event. The evening, organized by Wild Buzz Agency and Dure Vie, marked the venue’sfinal festive chapter before construction began. An XXL scenography transformed the Nave into a cathedral for lovers of house, techno and disco, offering participants an immersive experience between sound and image.
A magical return: Candlelight in December
In addition to this electrifying night, another exception is in store for lovers of intimate experiences. Candlelight concerts are scheduled for December 2025. These candlelit evenings offer the chance to rediscover the venue in a magical atmosphere. It’s the last exclusive opportunity to experience the Cité du Cinéma before its long silence.
Not to be missed: The exclusive reopening in 2026
Mark your calendar! The wait will end in April 2026. That’s when the Cité du Cinéma is scheduled to officially reopen to the public and events. This reinauguration will not be a simple return to normality, but the revelation of a site at its full post-renovation potential.
It will be a unique opportunity to rediscover the 12,000 m² of monumental architecture and the Central Nave, now ready to welcome XXL events, conventions and, of course, the sets of future film productions!
