It’s hard to find a more quintessentially Parisian setting to get ready for Christmas. Starting November 26, 2026, about forty chalets will be set up in Square René-Viviani on the Left Bank, with Notre-Dame as a backdrop. The market will remain open until December 27, and admission will be completely free.
Unlike large, traditional markets, this one features a more intimate setting. The 40 announced exhibitors were all selected based on a single criterion: offering items made in France. Jewelry, ceramics, glass, textiles, leather goods, illustrations, and decorative items will make up the bulk of the booths.
A Christmas market on a human scale across from the cathedral
And in terms of location and setting, it doesn’t get much more central or iconic than this! Square René-Viviani is located just a few dozen meters from Notre-Dame, with a direct view of the Île de la Cité. This location makes it easy to combine a stroll through the Latin Quarter, a visit to the cathedral, and a tour of the market stalls without having to cross all of Paris.
The market will also showcase French gourmet specialties, with plenty of snacks to enjoy on the spot or regional products to take home. Musical performances are also scheduled throughout the event, in an atmosphere that’s deliberately more artisanal than spectacular.
