How can you separate Paris from its barges? These monuments on the water are an essential part of the Parisian cliché we love so much. What if we told you that we’d found the most charming barge in Paris? L’eau et les rêves is a café and bookshop on the Seine. An absolutely exotic place to discover!
A bookshop on the water in Paris
Who’d have thought there was a bookshop on the water in Paris? Located on the banks of the Canal de l’Ourcq, this fully-vegetated barge is the stuff of dreams. On the first floor, you’ll find a wide selection of books on the environment, gardening, plants[/trackLink link_url="https://parissecret.com/plantes-interieur-increvables/"]animals and ecology. Whether it’s novels, essays or comics, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
The barge regularly hosts painting and drawing exhibitions, as well as creative workshops. You can also find craftsmen and their creations, from florists to potters… As you can see, L’eau et les rêves is a place where generations mix and connect.
A bookshop… and a gourmet café on the banks of the Seine
Once you’ve found a few literary nuggets, admired the latest exhibition and taken part in a painting workshop, we recommend a trip to the bookshop’s café. Lulled by the lapping of the Canal de l’Ourcq, you’ll almost feel you’re somewhere other than Paris. You can enjoy a delicious latte or sample some excellent pastries while admiring the canal.
But it’s especially for its Sunday brunch that we encourage you to book. Here, all hot and cold drinks are available: tea, coffee, fruit juice, iced tea… The menu changes regularly with the seasons. Right now, it’s a bun with homemade guacamole and a fried egg, followed by the protein of your choice: salmon, bacon or vegetarian. And weather permitting, you can even sit out on the barge’s terrace to soak up the sunshine. A charming, timeless place!
