Since 1918, a prestigious address has been beating in the heart of Paris and delighting residents of the 2nd arrondissement. Le Vaudeville, nestled in the lively Rue Vivienne, is an institution in its own right, and one of the capital’s finest Art Deco landmarks. Although it is currently under renovation, the address should soon reopen its doors to the delight of local residents.
This legendary brasserie is a magnificent Art Deco institution in Paris.
Named for its proximity to the now-defunct theater of the same name, Le Vaudeville was founded in 1918, and soon adopted a sumptuous Art Deco aesthetic designed by the Solvet brothers. A veritable historical jewel-case, the address appeals thanks to its striking decor. Carved woodwork, refined marble, opaline chandeliers, elegant banquettes and lighting fixtures: it’s all there, and the splendor of the early 20th century is still palpable!
Having set the scene, it’s time to talk about the menu. Le Vaudeville serves traditional French cuisine, with a notable specialty in seafood: oysters (Gillardeau, Cadoret…), shellfish and crustaceans. It’s also hard to miss the incredible seafood platters, available in a range of prices. They’re the perfect way to get an idea of the restaurant’s cuisine and the quality of its products. They’re also available to take away. Also on the menu: classic brasserie dishes such as beef tartare prepared in the dining room, Parisian-style onion gratinée, calf’s head, moules-frites and bourbon vanilla crème brûlée. In short, a thousand ways to feast at the Vaudeville table.
Although it has survived the decades, this address is also prone to hazards and accidents. Unfortunately, Le Vaudeville suffered a major fire in the spring of 2025. As a result, the restaurant is currently under renovation and closed. However, we can expect the restaurant to reopen soon, revealing it at its very best!
